I received the following email from a good friend who was bemoaning the behavior of the political Left vis-a-vie the war in Iraq. His email and  the gist of my response follow:

Left-wing Demos did the same thing in the 1970's - leaving millions to be slaughtered and "re-educated" in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.  The irrational left-wing is going to get us killed.  I'm sure Osama and other terrorist leaders can read our left wing media that spews filth and outright lies - - - history always repeats itself as left-wingers do not learn from history - - - -  they simply control the education system and re-write history to their specifications.

Left-wingers hate the President so much they will sacrifice our troops and the citizens of this country just to make a point - - - this would easily fit into the diagnosis of a mental disorder.

Every vacuum is eventually filled by good or evil - the Demos, and a few Republicans,  are casting their vote for evil, at our expense.

Hello Rich! For the most part, I agree, although I don't take a completely secular view on all of this.  This is not just a political disagreement between the Left and the Right. It does seem as if many on the Left have become the embodiment of evil, although perhaps unwittingly.  For those of us who have always saluted the flag, and believed in our Constitutions and the basic institutions of American government, it does seem like they have made a pact with Il Diabolo. As for success in the war, right now it looks like only General Petraeus  can pull this thing out of the fire and hand it off into the jaws of victory. If he is successful in the next few months, the Dems and a few weak kneed Republicans will look like fools, and then many of those will suffer defeat at the ballot box, but in the meantime, the Left will do its best to foil the general's efforts, and the efforts of President Bush. Even after we have left Iraq, and the Islamic terrorists start terrorizing our citizenry here in this country again, the Left will not abandon their idiotic ideology, not even after the last nail is banged into their coffins by some blackguard wearing a turban.  It's not that that Left doesn't get it, they don't want to get it.

When I say the "Left," I mean the "Far Left," who like the Islamic terrorists who have hijacked the religion of Islam, the Far Left has hijacked the basic liberal principles and civility of the American Democratic Party. They have become grand masters in the art of finger pointing. ("Bush lied" and he made all those stupid, stubborn, horrible, self-righteous mistakes!), and they vote in lock step--it is group think--pure tribalism. They care nothing for our flag, the Constitution, nor the blood shed by Americans from the beginning of our history. Daily they mock Jews, Christians, Christianity, Evangelicals, the Bible, and the Christian foundations of our country--just like the enemy we are fighting. Over time they have used what power and opportunity they could take advantage of to put enough Federal, unelected judges in place to win policy disputes where they couldn't succeed at the ballot box. They want to replace the Secretary of State and the National Command Authority with the United States Senate. This isn't Democracy. It is pure elitism--rule by the oligarchs.

As for the war, they don't understand that the enemy we are fighting hates them more than the American servicemen and women who are engaging and killing them in the streets in Baghdad. They don't understand that if the Islamic terrorists ever get a grip on our country, these "useful idiots" will be the first to be beheaded in a televised public display on Times Square. ("Can't we all just get along?") They don't understand that the only peace that is acceptable is peace with freedom. They don't understand that the cost of true freedom has alway been the spilling of American blood and the blood of our allies on foreign soil in a just cause. They don't understand that supporting our troops means supporting our Commander in Chief, like we did when Wilson, Roosevelt and Truman were President. They don't understand that you can't arbitrate with either terrorists, or state leaders who sponsor terrorism. Like Hitler and Tojo, the armies of the leaders who sponsor state terrorism have to be defeated on the battlefield and their sponsors have to be required to surrender unconditionally. They can not be allowed to remain in power.  For some reason  Wes Clark and his buddies in Europe don't understand that Ahmadinijad and the Mullahs, like the Caliphs in the 7th and 8th Century are not like Milosivic and the Serbs of the 20th Century? Do the Europeans understand that Europe is the prize? Iranian Islamics want to pick up where they left off when Charles Martel and the Franks stopped their quest for conquest of Europe in 732. Likewise, does anyone remember the agreements that came out of the Paris Peace Talks with North Viet Nam in 1971? Is history doomed to repeat itself again? and so soon? The Left doesn't even understand that we really are engaged in a world war, and that by their actions (which give aid and comfort to the enemy) they may one day cause the war to spill over on to the streets of main street America. Of course when that happens they will wash their hands of any responsibility while they cower in the American countryside like the Sunshine Patriots of 1776. They scoff at our history, which is why they have been trying to rewrite it for the last 50 years. They only care about their Socialist ideology, and the rule of many by a few elites who "know better" than our founding fathers.

Right now I truly believe that only American servicemen and women in uniform overseas, along with the firm leadership of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney can put a stop to the Left Wing blather and the partisan Democratic talking points that gets parroted night after night by the Left wing news media--spearheaded by NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN and the New York Times. But unfortunately those in uniform will only be able to quiet those shrill and irrational voices by succeeding in Iraq. It means we will ultimately have to take the war to Iran and soon. Since the demise of Saddam Hussein, it turns out that Iran has inherited the mantle of the supreme instrument and exporter of terror throughout the world. Against Iran we must use all of the instruments of power--political, economic, diplomatic, and military. In this effort America will probably have to begin it alone. But we are running out of time, and the consequences of failure are far more dire now than they were when the Left in Congress cut off funding for ammunition to the army of South Viet Nam.(You can argue the point, but South Vietnam lost because we lost our will--and then they ran out of bullets.)

Are we going to allow the Left to beckon America's defeat again?

Those of us who believe that the President's war policy is right have got to hang tough and we have got to make sure our politicians understand how we truly feel. We muse let our will be known. We will not accept defeat in Iraq or the middle east.
